The Thunderstorm

This is a vingette from a book that I haven't written yet. Thought I would share it nonetheless.

Happy New Year?

This idea has been gnawing at the back of my head for sometime and I have just got round to doing it.

I have been reading some stuff lately that has confirmed what I knew already about the Nasty Party and thought it time I got this out. Happy New Year indeed.

*If you're not sure what the volume reference is about look here. IDS is a tool. A grade one nasty tool.

Commisioned work

Here is a piece I called disatopic. A cross between disaster and dystopic.

Not for any particular reason other than it kind of goes with the pictures.

Lazy

Well, not really. My new years resolution went a bit wrong insofar that I read plenty of articles but just didn't do any drawings. But I have been busy illustrating a book for Harper Collins. It's called Colour (Actually Color - it's an American Title) Yourself Smart - Great Works of Art. The book is 52 line drawings of famous paintings, with colour reference at the back, and by colouring them in, you learn about the paintings and improve your memory by remembering the colours from the references.

Anyway, Harper Collins have kindly allowed me to use two of the drawings on my blog. These are probably my favourites. So here is what I have been up to, I haven't been lazy...

New Years Resolution:

I have set myself a target of drawing a picture every week based on a article from the internet that I has sparked my interest. Two weeks in to the new year and I have already fallen behind but hey, fuck it. I have been busy with my other new years resolutions...
Anyway, George Monbiot (is that "Mon-bio" or "Mon-biot"? - a mystery awaiting to be resolved) always provides brain image food...this article has already been illustrated but this is my take on it.

Return of the Mini Randomscape

Way back in 2004 I had an exhibition at the Wax Bar in Nottingham entitled Mini Randomscapes where I displayed 60 10x10cm paintings. Most of them I knocked up in the week before the exhibition (back when I wasn't flogging my soul to the man) whilst repeatedly listening to American Idiot. Needless to say I didn't sell very many and a couple where pinched by some thieving git. I have managed to sell a few since then at the odd market and as they are loads of fun to produce, I decided to do some new ones for the Nottingham Contemporary Market. These were the ones that sold:

New Calendar

Once again the time is upon us to think about next year and what better way to do so than to look at a couple of pages from the new calendar for 2012. Available exclusively from Nottingham Contemporary Craft.Design Fair on 10th and 11th December for around £8. Although I'll probably not sell them all in which case if you really want one you can just e-mail me, or if I have too many left over, expect it as a Christmas present...
